- 1). Pop the hood. Locate the belt tensioner on the engine, which has a square hole in the arm. Stick the 3/8-inch breaker bar into the square hole in the arm.
- 2). Turn the breaker bar clockwise, then pull the belt off the idler pulley. Unbolt the idler pulley from the engine block, using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Install the replacement idler pulley onto the engine, using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.
- 3). Turn the breaker bar clockwise again, then slide the belt around the idler pulley. Release the breaker bar and make sure the belt is routed properly and not twisted.
